Classroom Summary
The Classroom Volunteer supports the teaching team in creating a safe, engaging, and dynamic learning environment. Volunteers help with activities such as reading, arts and crafts, playtime, outdoor activities, and more.
Successful volunteers are positive, flexible, and ready to participate in a fast-paced classroom. The role involves moving around the room and spending time on the floor with children. Volunteers are expected to learn classroom protocols and follow guidance from EPIC staff.
Qualifications
- At least 16 years old and able to pass a background check
- Passion for early childhood education and child development
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and learn classroom procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff, parents, and children
- Reliability, consistency, and dedication as a volunteer
- Commitment to EPIC’s mission, values, and policies, maintaining confidentiality
Responsibilities
- Engage with children through play, reading, and learning activities.
- Assist in implementing classroom activities under the guidance of the teaching team.
- Support children with handwashing and personal care routines.
- Help with cleaning before and after mealtimes.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Prepare materials and supplies as directed by teaching staff.
- Promote a culture of safety in all areas where children are present, including classrooms, playgrounds, and buses. Encourage EPIC’s “Speak Up, Speak Out” culture.
