Position Title: Information Technology Manager (Head Start/EHS)
Pay Level: $78,000 - $83,200
Status: Exempt
Report to: Head Start Director
Position Summary:
The Information Technology (IT) Manager provides on-site and remote technical support to Head Start and Early Head Start program locations. This position is responsible for assisting staff with basic IT troubleshooting, including hardware and software support, email and account access, and connectivity issues. The IT Manager ensures that technology systems are operational and accessible, supporting the daily functions of early learning programs and administrative teams. This role helps maintain secure, efficient, and user-friendly technology services that align with Head Start performance standards and agency policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate of Arts or 2-year technical degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience leading an IT team or department and/or working directly in the IT field for an early learning provider.
- Computer expertise in the following programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Publisher.
- Must be organized, able to manage time effectively and provide “service oriented” technical support.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to integrate positively and effectively with other team members, coworkers, vendors, clients, and the general public.
- Must be self-directed and able to work with a minimal amount of direction.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license, own transportation and required auto insurance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage and maintain servers, networks and operating systems.
- Perform system upgrades, patches and backups.
- Provide timely and technical support to staff across Head Start and Early Head Start sites, including troubleshooting hardware, software, printers and connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure technology supports compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and program operations.
- Assist with setup, maintenance, and inventory of computers, tablets, cell phones, and other technology used in classrooms and administrative offices.
- Ensure I/T is setup & functioning for Head Start Policy Council meetings, Board meetings and special events as requested.
- Support staff in utilizing specific web-based software by providing hands-on training, answering field questions by phone or e-mail and assisting in developing/updating training manuals.
- Ensure system security and user access permissions.
- Research, purchase, install and clean all I/T equipment for all Head Start locations.
- Add, delete and troubleshoot staff email accounts
- Be the first point of contact to trouble shoot I/T issues, including software, computers, log-ins, printers and Wi-Fi to bring about timely resolution from start to finish.
- Document support requests, track recurring issues, and communicate with administrators to improve system functionality and user experience.
- Be the contact person to organize and schedule with outside contractor(s) for servers, access points, and POE switch issues. Communicate and provide status updates to management.
- Ensure malware/anti-virus software is installed properly and updated regularly.
- Develop new strategies and IT procedures to increase efficiency, enhance workflow and improve customer satisfaction.
- Maintain phone systems including setup, general maintenance, and upgrades as appropriate to skill level.
- Maintain confidentiality of all agency data, passwords and LAN address numbers.
- Report policy violations and/or unprofessional behavior to supervisor in a timely manner in accordance with EPIC’s policies/procedures and with WACs.
Conditions of Employment:
- Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
- Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
- Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
- Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
- Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within thirty 30 days of employment).
- Meet the minimum education requirements within the timeframe as stated in the performance standards.
- Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
